The Future

What Does The Future Bring?
We realize that there will always be people in our community who have fallen on tough times and will need a hand up. We will be there for them.

Our future vision for the Surrey Food Bank includes :

  1. Ensuring no one is ever turned away from our door
  2. Ensuring hampers are full of nutritious food from all the food groups
  3. Food and meal providing agencies will become stronger partners with us continuing to work together to end the cycle of poverty and hunger. This includes supporting breakfast, snack and lunch programs for children.
  4. Increase and expand our Food Security programs to further empower our clients to "Help Themselves". Community kitchens, food buying clubs, baby food making workshops, nutrition classes and community gardens are paramount to ensuring food security to all residents regardless of income.
  5. Opening food bank depots in the Newton and, eventually, Guildford areas. Transportation is a huge expense for our clients and Whalley is a long distance to travel for many. Locating depots in different areas of Surrey and North Delta will be more convenient and cost-effective.  We already have depots in Cloverdale and North Delta and they are very successful!
  6. Prepare for an increase in the number of people asking for assistance. Statistics indicate that we assist 10% more people every year.

The Surrey Food Bank is committed to continuing to provide food to needy families and to "Help People Help Themselves".
