Surrey Food Bank Presented with Excellence in Food Banking 2013, Large Size Food Bank Award at Food Banks Canada Conference

The Surrey Food Bank is proud to announce that we are this year’s recipient of the Excellence in Food Banking 2013, Large Size Food Bank award during Food Banks Canada’s membership conference awards dinner held at the culinary institute in Charlottetown, PEI on June 13, 2013. This honor is awarded to three food banks each year:  small, medium and large. Food Banks Canada recognizes food banks that play an instrumental role in improving the community they serve through creative, efficient, and successful programs and services, and exemplify the highest standards of operation.

Marilyn Herrmann receives Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal

At a ceremony held February 1, 2013 Surrey Food Bank Executive Director Marilyn Herrmann was presented with the Queen's Diamond Jubileee Medal by Surrey MP Jasbir Sandhu.The Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubileee Medal was created to honour those Canadians who have made signigicant contributions to their communities. A total of 46 individuals were honoured with the medal at the ceremony.
