Every year in BC, an estimated 16 million tons of food goes to waste on farmers' fields. The Surrey Food Bank's Gleaning Project organizes volunteers from our local community to harvest produce from local farms and backyards to be made available to the 14,000 clients that access the Surrey Food Bank each month, 43% of whom are children under the age of 18.
 |
Last year, the Surrey Food Bank's volunteers gleaned 32,000 lbs of fresh produce. We are seeking support from local schools, businesses and individual volunteers to make this year's project another success. |
