Dear Friends,

The world has changed dramatically since March of 2020.  The optimism and hope of Spring turned into panic and uncertainty as we were all affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.  Overnight, our community had to adapt to the changing times and seek safer ways to conduct everyday life.

We here at the Surrey Food Bank have undergone major changes in the last months to adapt our distribution model, our registration systems, our warehouse and program operations, and even our community and volunteer relationships.  It has been taxing and frustrating but, has also shown us the true meaning of community spirit and coming together.

Supporters, friends, donors, volunteers, and clients have all come together to work towards making this time as safe and secure as possible.  The changes we have made to operations allow for the physical distancing and limited gatherings guidelines and we have gone from an open grocery store model to pre-built hampers to limit possible contact and spread.  This transition has not been easy, but our staff and volunteers have been beyond tremendous, and are committed to keeping themselves, our clients and community as safe as we can.

As we navigate this new reality, we wish to extend heartfelt thanks to all of you in the community for your encouragement, support, and contributions to help us through this unprecedented time.  Thank you is not even enough to express our gratitude.
Please stay home, stay safe and we will all get through this.

With appreciation,

Feezah Jaffer
